Northeast Georgia Industrial Park

Project Description

The Orkin Tract Roadway and Utility Infrastructure project consists of 1.37 miles of public industrial roadway including the signalization of both an existing stop-controlled intersection and two new access points to the Northeast Georgia Technology Park. The traffic services included a traffic impact analysis for the industrial park, signal warrants analyses at 3 intersections, a median opening justification report for the relocation of an existing median opening, signal design, existing roadway widening for turn lanes, and the new industrial park roadway network. The new roadway will serve the new Caterpillar facility and what will become the Northeast Georgia Technology Park as the remaining 600 acre Orkin tract continues to be developed. Services also included site layout and design, civil engineering, surveying, and permitting through the local municipalities, GDOT, EPD, and the Army Corps of Engineers. Civil engineering of the roadway included compliance with AASHTO and GDOT design requirements, drainage and stormwater management design, and the design of 4 creek crossings which included stream and wetland mitigation coordination. Other services included all bidding, contract, and construction administration on behalf of the development authorities of Oconee and Athens-Clarke counties.
