W&A Engineering Acquires HensonFoley, Expands Into Charlotte, NC

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Charlotte, North Carolina—W&A Engineering, a rapidly-growing multi-disciplinary engineering firm headquartered in Athens, Georgia, has acquired Charlotte-based landscape architecture and civil engineering firm HensonFoley.

HensonFoley is led by President Jay Henson, ASLA, RLA and Vice President Tim Foley, PE. The two are supported by eight industry professionals working to provide high-quality design and reliable service in and around the Queen City, collectively boasting nearly 100 years of industry experience between the ten team members on staff.

Henson founded the land planning, landscape architecture, and civil engineering firm in May 2000. He has nearly 35 years of experience providing site design, rezoning, construction documents, site-permitting, and construction administration services.

“We are incredibly honored at HensonFoley’s desire and enthusiasm to join the W&A Engineering family,” said W&A Engineering President and CEO Jon Williams, ASLA, PLA. “As a landscape architect myself, I have a great amount of respect for both the team and corporate portfolio HensonFoley has built. The entire W&A Engineering team is excited to welcome these dedicated and talented professionals to our firm.”

The Charlotte office will serve as a regional hub for W&A Engineering to continue to forge new relationships and build better communities as the firm expands across the southeast. With existing offices located in Georgia, and Tennessee, this will be W&A Engineering’s first office in North Carolina.

“W&A Engineering immediately felt like home,” said Henson and Foley. “We’ve known for a while that we wanted to expand, and W&A is the best fit we could have possibly asked for both culturally and professionally. We are excited to continue to serve our existing clients and build new relationships with the W&A team, offering the same high-quality design and reliable service—just now on a much larger scale.”

Founded in 1999, W&A Engineering is home to nearly 130 professionals building better communities in five core departments: civil engineering, landscape architecture, land surveying, traffic engineering, and economic development. Known for providing innovative design, effective and efficient engineering, and professional service to communities in 46 states and counting, W&A is part of Better Communities Collaborative, a family of innovative businesses with the unified mission to work towards a better tomorrow.
