Growing with W&A: Meet Travis Bonar, PE!

Travis Bonar, PE has been building better communities with W&A Engineering since December of 2021, bringing ten years of experience to our team. A Senior Project Manager with our Nashville Civil Engineering department, Travis helps manage and facilitate projects, working primarily with private developments for a wide range of project scopes and sizes from 12-home subdivisions to 400-unit developments. He also spends a lot of time mentoring young engineers working on the Nashville team and helping them achieve their full potential!

His favorite project to work on and manage to date has been a 350-unit residential community in Nashville, Tennessee on one of the most difficult sites he’s ever seen. Travis has loved the challenge and complexity the project has provided, noting that he has been able to utilize so much of his hard-won wisdom to provide total development solutions for the client.

“My favorite part of working for W&A is the culture,” Travis said. “We’ve fostered such a great a supportive environment here! It’s been exciting to see how that has supported the growth of our staff and company.”

In his free time, Travis loves being outdoors and going on hikes around Tennessee with his girlfriend Kit. The two have recently adopted a black cat named Griffin, and he’s learned that cat-proofing a house is just as full-time a job as being a Professional Engineer. Travis loves trying new restaurants and exploring new places, traveling, and seeing his favorite sports teams play. In his friend group, Travis is the token weather and math nerd, always the go-to for a quick math question or the entire upcoming 10-day forecast.

His favorite part of being a Nashville resident is the proximity to a rapidly-growing city, especially his ability to get tickets and be at a game of some variety in 20 minutes or less. He’s loved seeing the city grow and the skyline change during his twelve years in the city. He’s also recently gotten involved in the local environmental group Mill Creek Watershed Association where he, Kit, and other members work towards the restoration of the vital local watershed.

Travis is a key leader in our Nashville office, spearheading growth and cultural progressive for all. We’re so grateful for dedicated industry professionals such as Travis and cannot have him build better communities with W&A for many more years to come!
