ESP Rome, an organization dedicated to creating transformative experiences for people with disabilities and their families, has won unanimous approval from the Floyd County Board of Commissioners.
ESP Rome will be the organization’s second location and provide a nurturing environment with 360 programming, dedicated family support, and unforgettable Hooray Summer Camps, designed exclusively for individuals with disabilities and their families.
During the Board’s meeting on January 23, 2024, Executive Director Laura Hope Whitaker shared that ESP, Inc. already serves nearly 130 individuals in the Rome area and shared her mission to change the Rome community for the better with a more permanent home in Floyd County.
After the unanimous approval was handed down, Commissioner Scotty Hancock, who voted “Definitely, yes,” requested to make additional comment.
“Can I say something real quick? This is killing me,” he began. “I really appreciate what you guys are doing… People like you in our community and things like this makes what we do worthwhile.”
W&A Engineering is proud to partner with ESP, Inc. on this project as we have on numerous others in the past, including the ESP headquarters in Watkinsville, Georgia; the adjoining Miracle League Field and Playground also in Watkinsville, Georgia; and Camp Hooray in Jackson County, Georgia. To date, W&A Engineering has performed professional conceptual layout and design services, rezoning application and client representation, and proposed site design services.
We look forward to continuing to work with ESP, Inc. to make this project— and many future projects— a reality!
