Growing with W&A: Meet Mark Durbin, PLA!

Please join us in welcoming Mark Durbin, PLA to W&A Engineering as a Senior Landscape Architect serving our clients across the country with innovative, creative, and efficient design! Mark joins W&A with over 40 years of experience bringing man-made elements into harmony with the natural environment.

A registered landscape architect in both Kentucky and Tennessee, Mark is the first landscape architect working full-time in our Nashville office. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture from the University of Kentucky in 1984 and looks forward to maximizing the functional and aesthetic potential of each design opportunity as a part of the W&A Engineering team.

“I’m new to the company, but that really doesn’t matter – the people are the best part of W&A,” Mark said “People loving what they do and doing it at a high level. That’s a recipe for success in my humble opinion.”

One of his favorite projects in his career portfolio is the Pack Square Park in Asheville, North Carolina where he spent three years as the owner’s representative on the complex $20 million urban park. Its completion has been the catalyst for massive growth within the city and continues to be a place of roaming troubadours, festivals, theatre, and family gatherings.

“As a landscape architect, I believe we can enhance most projects via our career focus on site planning, landform, materials, plantings, details, and more,” Mark said. “When we get it right, our projects become spaces where people gather and celebrate life.”

In his free time, Mark loves spending time with his family, exercising, restoring his 1972 TR6, cheering on the UK Wildcats, or reading from his collection of self-transformation books.

We’re so glad that you’re a part of the W&A Engineering team, Mark!
