We are delighted to announce that Andrew Walker has officially joined W&A Engineering as a project engineer at our headquarter office in Athens, Georgia. Later this month, he will be graduating from the University of Georgia with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and will be an official member of our civil engineering team.
Andrew has been a civil engineering intern with W&A since February 2020, all the while being a full-time student at UGA. He has been working directly with Project Manager Chris Oliver, PE, as well as Director of Corporate Culture and Career Planning Buck Bacon and very quickly became a valuable addition to the department. Most recently, Andrew and his team have been working on multi-family housing complexes all around the state of Georgia.
Andrew has been in the United States Navy as part of the Civil Engineering Corps Officer Candidate Program since 2019. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, he has been able to more fully dedicate himself to growing his educational and experiential civil engineering portfolios. Because of his commitment to the United States Navy, Andrew will eventually take leave of W&A to complete Officer Candidate School. However, his incredible drive and passion for building better communities ensure that he’ll always be able to call W&A Engineering home.
“My favorite part about W&A is my coworkers and their willingness to teach me and help me at any time during their busy days. I have learned more in the past year as an intern than I have in all my years at UGA,” said Andrew
“I am very fortunate to find a company that has been willing to invest time into teaching me and helping me grow as a civil engineer despite knowing I won’t be able to stick around forever,” he commented.
In his free time, Andrew enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Sierra, and their two dogs. He is an avid guitar player and will participate in just about any sport with a ball, whether that’s on the field or from the comfort of his home on a Sunday night. One of his favorite parts of living in Athens is the ease of access to every kind of setting. He thoroughly enjoys being just a drive away from the mountains or the beach at any given time.
We are beyond thrilled that Andrew will be officially joining our civil engineering team, and we couldn’t be more grateful for his service to our country. Welcome home, Andrew!
