Meet Tim Foley, PE: W&A Charlotte Director of Civil Engineering

W&A Engineering is thrilled to welcome Tim Foley, PE to our talented team of civil engineers building better communities across the southeast.

Previously the Vice President of HensonFoley alongside partner Jay Henson, ASLA, PLA, Foley leads the W&A Charlotte civil engineering team in innovative design, effective and efficient engineering, and professional service. From concept studies through final engineering and construction, Foley utilizes his over 30 years of experience to find creative, functional solutions to complex site development projects.

After earning his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech in 1993, Foley moved to the Queen City and began working as a Geotechnical Engineering Field Inspector with S&ME. An avid Panthers fan, Foley remembers fondly being a part of the geotechnical team during the design of the Panthers Stadium in downtown Charlotte.

Foley joined longtime industry partner Jay Henson in 2009 and added civil engineering services to the Huntersville-based landscape architecture firm. Together, Foley and Henson grew the firm into a client-focused team committed to providing high-quality design and reliable service to clients in the greater Charlotte area.

Since joining the W&A Engineering team, Foley has thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with our other civil teams across the southeast, working alongside members of the seven other W&A offices, coordinating with clients, and mentoring the next generation of industry professionals. His favorite part of being a civil engineer is seeing his creative solutions take shape as projects come to fruition.

When he’s not finding the perfect balance between exceeding client goals and maximizing project efficiency, Foley can likely be found on his pontoon boat on Lake Norman with friends and family. A PSL season ticket holder, Foley also enjoys attending as many Panthers games as he can.

“Being a civil engineer in a city that’s growing so much is such a great opportunity,” said Foley. “Of course, the great sporting teams don’t hurt.”

We are so excited to continue to grow our talented team with seasoned industry professionals like Tim Foley and look forward to seeing our Charlotte team continue thrive under his leadership!
