Project Description
W&A Engineering’s North Carolina-based team has been proudly working with the town of Huntersville to improve and expand the 38-acre Huntersville Athletic Park for nearly a decade. Initially contracted to design synthetic turf infields for two of the park’s four full-sized ball fields, the team also designed an indoor recreation facility with adjacent traffic circulation and parking improvements in 2018. Most recently, W&A Engineering has designed high-tech synthetic astroturf surfaces for the four infields, as well as water quality and stormwater management systems incorporated into the perimeter drainage due to impervious earth beneath two of these fields.
This community park is complete with four full-sized ball fields, a regulation soccer field, a multi-purpose field, restroom facilities, a concession stand, a covered picnic shelter with grills, two sets of playground equipment, a 1/3 mile paved walking track, a wilderness bike trail, and an indoor recreation center.
