Project Description:
This project consisted of 5,400 LF of gravity sanitary sewer to supply the Caterpillar Athens plant as well as the future development of the remaining Orkin Tract. 8”, 12”, and 18” diameter sections of sewer main were designed as well as multiple creek crossings and a 40’ deep directional bore under Highway 78. Services included design, engineering, permitting, bidding, and construction and contract administration.
This project brought the needed infrastructure to the new Caterpillar facility, located in both counties. W&A Engineering worked closely with both counties to ensure that the needs of Caterpillar are met, including a fast-track schedule. Services included surveying, roadway design and engineering, soil erosion and sediment control plans, water and sewer design and engineering, traffic engineering and signal design, storm water management, and permitting (construction budget: $7,000,000).
