Project Description
In support of a GDOT Roadside Enhancement & Beautification Council
(REBC) grant, W&A Engineering provided site analysis (including survey,
office research, and field data collection), landscape plan preparation,
construction cost estimates, a long-term maintenance plan, and construction
management for a two-block extension of Downtown Washington’s
streetscape to improve the city’s gateway appeal. Additionally, W&A
Engineering assisted with the preparation of grant application documents
and attainment of a GDOT Special Encroachment Permit. This streetscape
enhancement was done on behalf of Washington’s Downtown Development
Authority (DDA) as part of a larger plan to improve the appeal of downtown
gateways, visually connect the downtown to surrounding historic
neighborhoods, and ensure greater pedestrian safety.
