W&A’s Scott Haines, Director of Landscape Architecture, attended the Athens-Clarke Heritage Foundation’s 45th Annual Historic Preservation Awards ceremony at the Morton Theatre in downtown Athens.
This event showcased outstanding projects that revitalize historic buildings and areas in the Athens community. Several significant rehabilitation projects in the Athens area were recognized and awarded during the ceremony, including two W&A projects.
Creature Comforts Brewing won the award for Outstanding Rehabilitation. W&A was the site planner on this project. We assisted with the site permitting and also helped rearrange the existing parking to enhance circulation. Also, Hugh Acheson’s 5 & 10 won the President’s Award. For this project, W&A assisted in obtaining the Certificate of Appropriateness from the Historical Preservation Commission and also managed the Planned Development submittal and approval process.
