Jon Williams Named ASCE’s 2021 Entrepreneur of the Year

During the American Society of Civil Engineers’ 2021 Annual Conference, Jon Williams was named this year’s Civil Engineering Entrepreneur of the Year. Nominated by members of the W&A Engineering team, he became the first Landscape Architect and non-Civil Engineer in the award’s history to win.

“If you would have told me twenty-two years ago that I would win an Entrepreneur of the Year award for the American Society of Civil Engineers, most people would have probably laughed you out of the room,” Williams joked, as he addressed the firm after the convention. “Receiving this award means the world to me. I’m so proud of our accomplishments, and I can’t wait to see what the next twenty-two years will bring.”

The entire W&A family watched the convention virtually from the firm’s various offices. Immediately following the event’s conclusion, Williams addressed his team of over 100 employees and dedicated the award to the hard work and dedication of each and every W&A team member.

“This is a testament to all of you,” Williams said. “There is no ‘Entrepreneur of the Year award’ without the employees that build better communities day in and day out.”

The plaque accompanying the award hangs proudly on the walls of W&A’s headquarter office in Athens, Georgia along with many others of its kind, including the 2021 goBeyond Profit Champion award and 2021 Business Waste Reduction Award. From this place of honor, it operates as a constant reminder of W&A’s determination, innovation, and motivation to engineer partnerships with every new opportunity we pursue.
