W&A Engineering’s Government and Community Services Director Buck Bacon, PMP recently visited the Athens Community Career Academy to discuss career opportunities in the site development industry with Athens-Clarke County high school students.
The purpose of this discussion was to share about the plethora of opportunities available within the field that do not require a traditional four-year degree, as well as the pathways students could follow to capitalize on those opportunities.
Prior to serving as the Government and Community Services Director, Buck Bacon served as W&A’s Director of Corporate Culture and Career Planning. With a nontraditional educational background primarily based in vocational classes, Buck utilizes his passion for career planning to lead frequent conversations around the communities we serve focused on achieving professional success via alternative pathways.
With an emphasis on professional development and career education, W&A offers career opportunities and pathways in three primary skilled trades: land surveying, drafting, and remote sensing.
